Here is to the Awkward Moments in Life!

"Life is full of awkward moments, why not throw another one in there!" This is something my sister, Brittney, and I say quite often. Life really is chalk full of awkward moments when you wonder why you opened your big mouth and said the wrong thing, why you went somewhere that wasn't familiar to you, why you are so clumsy and had to make a fool of yourself in front of everyone. Can I just say though that I am a huge fan of these moment! I love feeling awkward! haha. Before you all go thinking I am crazy, think about it for a minute. Every awkward time in your life leads to something great. At least for me it has. You discover new friends, new talents, new hobbies, and new experiences. Best part is, if it wasn't a good time, you have a great story to tell friends and family later on that you can hopefully have a good laugh about. That is my favorite because everyone loves hearing a good story.

Unfortunately, I don't have a funny story to tell at this moment (however I have tons saved in the back of my brain if you ever need a good laugh) but just a realization that I love the unknown and the feeling that goes with it. The uncertainty and excitement of the new journey. This is a new goal of mine, to try something outside my comfort zone at least once a week. Nothing major, just something new that I know will get me a step out of my bubble. This week I decided to experience something completely foreign that required actually coordination...Country Dancing. This is a whole new world to me. Everyone talks it up here in Logan and I use to just laugh it off thinking ya'll were nuts wanting to flip around to some hick twang music. (not that I have anything against country music, my mom will testify I was a huge country freak in my early years, but I just can't stand the twangy banjo stuff.) Well I am hear to tell you I survived with only minor bruises and learned there is quite a bit of country music out there that actually has some merit to it. I rather enjoyed myself and got to hang out with some old friends and make some awesome new ones.

Come May, I will be doing something that is so far out of my comfort zone I still have a hard time believing it is reality...I am doing study abroad in GERMANY! I am sooo stoked! I was literally dancing around screaming joys when I found out I was going. It has been one of my life long goals to travel the world and now I am finally doing it! (Italy was first on list but Germany will do just fine. haha.) The trip is for my FCHD program. I will be taking classes about family and cultural diversity at the University there. We also have the chance to be working with kindergarten kids there, and travel to neighboring countries. The excursion I am probably most excited about is going to Auschwitz in Poland. I am a WWII/Holocaust fanatic. I LOVE studying this time in our history and find it so fascinating. It is a terrible tragedy but something we can learn so many lessons from. (I will post more information about the trip when I have details next week.)

So here is to all the awkward moments in life, you keep me on my toes and lovin' life!
